In 1986, Mike Leonard began his construction career, a vocation that now spans three decades. For six years he worked for a commercial general contractor, where he quickly advanced to a Project Manager position on a range of job sites. This experience gave Mike the foundation he needed to start Leonard Contracting, Inc. in 1992. Today, Mike leads his team on a variety of design-build, new construction, interior finish-out, and interior and exterior remodel projects. Leonard Contracting has extensive experience building corporate facilities, medical and dental offices, automotive dealerships, office/warehouse flex buildings, senior living communities, retail facilities, restaurants, civil infrastructure projects, and more. The firm also specializes in interior finish-out projects and the remodeling of occupied spaces. Mike has earned a reputation among his clients, employees and team members as a trustworthy businessman of integrity, one who is deserving of the many industry awards he and his team at Leonard Contracting have received. His unblemished character is one of the many reasons he frequently is asked to serve on industry and community boards. To date, this experience includes: Jerry Graeber has spent his entire construction career at Leonard Contracting, and his tenure is a prefect example of how the company invests in the training of its employees and rewards those who perform their duties exceptionally well. After serving in the U.S. Army, Jerry began working for Leonard Contracting in 1997, first as a carpenter’s helper, and later as a carpenter’s apprentice. When he reached the position of a full-time journeyman carpenter, Jerry decided to pursue an associate’s degree in Construction Management from St. Phillips’s College simultaneously, which guaranteed a long but fulfilling schedule. He completed that degree in 2003. While attending college at night, Greg Grandjean began his construction career in 1989 as a carpenter on commercial projects. He then built homes for five years before spending the next 13 years as a Project Manager on multi-family, senior living, and student housing projects. This range of experience made Greg the ideal candidate when he was hired by Leonard Contracting in 2007. As a Senior Project Manager with more than 25 years of experience, Greg’s previous and current duties include work on new construction and interior finish-out projects, as well as the remodeling of occupied facilities. These projects include retail, senior living, automotive, financial, office, and tilt-wall jobs, among others. In addition to his Senior Project Manager role, Greg also is the Safety Officer at Leonard Contracting, and conducts all internal safety training programs. After studying finance and accounting at UTSA, Elsa Leonard stood beside her husband, Mike, when he opened the doors of Leonard Contracting in 1992. Today, as Comptroller of the company, Elsa remains a steadfast partner in the business. Elsa is primarily responsible for all business operations, including financial reporting, accounting, and human resources management. Prior to joining Leonard Contracting in 2002, Michelle White spent 15 years working in sales, accounting and administrative roles, experience that has proven invaluable in her current position as Office Manager. Michelle’s list of daily responsibilities is lengthy and varied. She directs the daily operations of the office, manages accounts receivables and payables, issues certificates of insurance coverage to clients, and maintains certificates of all subcontractors’ insurance coverage. She also issues owner and subcontractor agreements, and, as Safety Director for the company, manages compliance for all safety training.
