Lee Wetherington grew up in Jacksonville, Florida in a family of builders, and has worked in the construction industry for his entire life. After serving in Vietnam with the U.S. Marine Corps, he moved to Sarasota in the 1970’s, joining forces with another builder before founding Lee Wetherington Homes. Since that time, Wetherington has dedicated himself to the growth of this company, establishing an enviable reputation as a design-oriented, detail-driven builder of high-quality, single-family homes. Lee from the start recognized that growth requires attention to more than the corporate structure. For that reason he has also placed an emphasis on staff development. In addition, he drives the company to ever-higher goals in customer satisfaction. He sets the tone at the top for his employees, who are instilled with a corporate culture of concern and caring, not only for customers, but also for community. Wetherington sets aside time and financial resources to help those less fortunate. An active member of several boards, he has been honored repeatedly for his generous philanthropic activities. The most notable being the Lee Wetherington Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota County which took his name in 2004.
