LCJ Educational Centers is a family owned educational institution that offers pre-employment training courses to transportation companies to train their CDL drivers to be more efficient, professional and better employees for their company. Being an owner of a trucking business myself, I have experienced the following issues with my drivers: lack of communication, lack of following safety regulations, improperly filling of documents, BOL issues, lack of professionalism while dealing with customers/brokers, co-workers and associates, poor inspections and lack of industry knowledge. As a business owner, husband and father, I was exhausted and extremely stressed at the end of the day with all the losses and issues that I encountered from my drivers. My company was at risk of losing DOT authority, our insurance policy and because of a high safety rating it was getting harder to work with big broker companies. After speaking to a variety of insurance companies, Florida highway patrol officers, brokers and also other associates, I realized this was a huge problem in the industry not just in my company. I had to find a solution to keep my business from being SHUT DOWN by DOT. I needed to improve my driver performance and knowledge of the transportation industry and the importance of properly following through with DOT regulations, company rules and guidelines and to have an ownership mentally to be part of our company growth. In my search efforts to find a solution, I realized only major trucking companies with big fleets offer mandatory pre-employment training to ensure driver efficiency and to reduce turnovers. I knew I had to restructure my hiring process and re-train my current drivers. I came up with a program that put all of these issues together and created a curriculum base on DOT laws and regulations, standard transportation documents, company rules and procedures. I started implementing mandatory classes and noticed a huge improvement and an immediate result in my drivers. This not only improved my companies moral but improved its productivity, work ethics and the losses were gone. I took the curriculum to other trucking companies for them to try and they had significant improvements. Then LCJ Educational Centers was born in 2016 with a lot of hope for the transportation industry.
