Types of minimally invasive spine surgery performed at Laser Spine Institute At Laser Spine Institute, we believe in educating our patients about what to expect before, during and after the surgical procedure with us. The procedure begins with a skilled surgeon making an incision and inserting a series of dilating tubes into the area of your condition. Once the initial tube is in place, a series of tubes, increasing in size, is placed over the first tube. This process creates an opening to the spine and spares the surrounding muscle tissue. Once the final tube is in place, all other tubes are removed. Through this final tube, the surgeon will insert the surgical instruments to remove the bone, ligament or tissue that is compressing the nerve and causing your chronic pain and symptoms. To ensure the constant health and safety of our patients, the anesthesia provider remains in the surgical room to monitor the patient’s vital signs and to administer medication and intravenous fluids. That is why we have strategically placed our Laser Spine Institute facilities throughout the nation to conveniently reach people with chronic neck and back pain. Since 2005, our surgeons have helped more than 75,000 patients find relief from chronic neck and back pain through our minimally invasive spinal procedures. Having nearly 60 percent of our patients traveling from out of state means we are happy to offer assistance finding hotel arrangements, in order to get you the best rate possible during your stay. Upon your arrival at one of our surgery centers, your Spine Care Consultant will guide you through what to expect during your patient experience, including amenities and attractions in the surrounding area. If you are traveling to one of our Laser Spine Institute facilities alone, please let us know prior to your arrival. All patients are required to be accompanied by an able-bodied adult Care Partner for the first 24 hours after surgery. If you do not have a qualified caretaker traveling with you, we can assist you by finding a local care partner who can assist you during the first 24 hours of your healing process. Additionally, all patients are required to stay within a 15-mile radius of our surgery center the day of your procedure. This allows our friendly and knowledgeable staff to be close by to ensure you do not have any complications or concerns.
