Lamar Construction Group is a privately owned and operated construction company established in 2007. It started as a result of volunteer work done with the local church to provide renovation and rehabilitation work for older and fixed income clients at no labor costs. Mission and Vision Mission. It is also our vision to become the leading construction company recognized throughout Florida. “Wayne Scantling, owner and president of Lamar Construction Group, Inc. has over 40 years of combined experience as an engineer and a contractor. A 1977 graduate of North Carolina A&T State University in mechanical engineering, he received his professional engineering license in 2007. Wayne also attended the University of Central Florida (UCF) for graduate work, completing all coursework necessary for an MS in Mechanical Engineering. It was in 2010 that Wayne received the level 2 General Contractors license, after doing volunteer work at his local church as a handyman to those in need. The inspirational result of that undertaking resulted in him soon thereafter opening Lamar Construction LLC. Wayne’s construction experience includes project engineering work at a major theme park and entertainment company, where he served as the lead project engineer and project mechanical engineer on many theme park ride systems and shows. This work included oversight and exposure to foundational systems, structural imbeds, soil investigations and prep, structural design, mechanical design, control system design, test, adjust, inspection, turnover and post-turnover support of attraction rides and shows. Wayne attained the level of senior manager of the project engineering department and served as such for four years, managing up to 23 direct reports responsible for the design, build, test and adjust of over 100 million dollars of theme park attractions and shows. Wayne’s additional construction experience includes what was done on a part-time basis between 2010 and 2017. The work involved housing rehabs and additions, with an appreciable amount of residential home design and certification. A good portion of the work also included aiding a local design and construction firm with project oversight. Wayne enlisted to commit himself to design and construction full-time on Dec. 1, 2017, under the new corporation name: Lamar Construction Group, Inc.
