Everyone is invited and we hope many will bring refreshments for the community. Please try to attend and support the artists who have been working and creating varied art pieces that they now wish to share with the community. The class has been part of our Art League for several years but this is the first time the talented artists will exhibit their work. We are fortunate to have so many truly special people and these artists, members of our Art League, have become a part of our family. Come see their work and meet them in person if you do not already know them. Upcoming events for the Lake Placid Art League; all but the January 28 show will be at the Art League, 127 Dal Hall Blvd, Lake Placid, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Copies of fliers will be posted as show dates approach. January 28, 2017: 30th Art and Fine Craft show, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at Bert Harris jr. Agricultural Center, US 27 The best of artists and fine craftspeople from all over; free door prizes every half hour, donated by the vendors, Drawing for works by Art League members . No admission fee. The Lake Placid Art League would like to give a big THANK YOU to our sponsors for their generous support for our 29th Annual Art and Fine Craft Show. The show was held on January 30th at the Bert J. Harris Agricultural Center. All the artists in this year's exhibit deserve recognition for the freshness of approach and experimentation with materials and process in their creative work. The main purpose of this event is to showcase fine art on the community level. We are very pleased that we had such a wide variety of media represented. Over fifty artists, most of them from Highlands County and Central Florida, exhibited and sold works that included watercolor and oil paintings, photography, and mixed media. Artisans in metal sculpting, wood turning, jewelry design and many others were well represented. Entrants were also vying for a share of $2,600 in cash awards provided by our kind sponsors.
