About Koppers
Koppers is an integrated global producer of carbon compounds, chemicals, and treated wood products for the aluminum, railroad, specialty chemical, utility, rubber, steel, residential lumber, and agriculture industries. Headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Koppers serves its customers through a comprehensive global manufacturing and distribution network, with facilities located in North America, South America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Asia.
Koppers carbon materials and chemicals are essential to the production of aluminum, steel, plastics, resins, treated wood, and rubber products. In addition, the carbon materials and chemicals also increase the durability of many products including railroad ties, utility and transmission poles, and marine pilings.
As a leading distiller of coal tar, a by-product of the transformation of coal into coke, Koppers produces carbon pitch, refined tar, creosote, carbon black feedstock and chemical oils. The chemical oils resulting from distillation are used to produce naphthalene and phthalic anhydride (PAA).

Koppers Cares about Communities
Koppers Cares about Communities
Koppers facilities around the world are key contributors to local economies and in many instances, we are a major employer in the area.
The CAP members meet with facility managers and company representatives on a regular basis to discuss matters of mutual interest and through these connections, we have developed a direct channel of engagement for building strong partnerships to support the growth and development of both Koppers and our local communities.
In addition to meetings and discussions with the CAPs, Koppers strives to connect employees to community members through volunteer activities and the support of philanthropic causes. Giving back to the community has long been a Koppers tradition and in the past, employees have volunteered their time to plant trees, clean streams, mentor children, and repair homes.
Recently, Koppers implemented a new Community Involvement Initiative to promote positive engagement with our local communities.
KoppersCares Day of Service
Koppers believes that stronger communities are good places to do business and we encourage our facilities to partner with nonprofit organizations to strengthen community services and programs.
To that end, we launched the KoppersCares Day of Service program at all of our U.S. locations. The KoppersCares Day of Service is a day of volunteer work for one selected nonprofit partner in a community where a Koppers facility is located and that matches our philanthropic priorities of family services, health organizations, education, culture and the arts, community improvement, and the environment.
If you are interested in partnering with a Koppers location in the future for a KoppersCares Day of Service project, please contact Jessica Franklin at
