Kompanion is a complete platform, extending the value of the application into the cloud. Our Kompanion servers are constantly scouring the internet in search of the latest and most relevant documentation for your equipment. When you add new equipment, we use the manufacturer name, model and the information you provide to identify the documents that you need. We then download the documents to your local device, so you have them, to view whether the internet connection is available or not. What if Kompanion cannot find documents for my equipment? While we strive to find every document we can, and while we continue to grow our relationships with manufacturers, there are times that we cannot identify the available documents. With Kompanion, you can always scan and upload any document you want. We will manage these documents for you and ensure that they are always available. Our application supports 3 different ways of updating equipment usage. Firstly, you can at any time manually update the hours of a piece of equipment. We track all these updates and create a comprehensive history of your usage. We use a predictive model that looks at how you've been using your equipment over time and "guesses" your usage. This allows the application to predict and update the usage hours. Manual entries are always used to confirm predictions and refine the algorithm. Thirdly, we support a variety of NMEA2000 gateways. If your equipment works with NMEA2000 and you have a gateway, we can read the information directly from the equipment itself. Absolutely not! We envisioned every boat owner getting great value from the application, from the ocean crossing sailor to the weekend fisherman to the occasional boater who likes spending time on the water. Kompanion is meant to make boat ownership, just a little easier. How much will Kompanion cost? We are still trying to finalize this part of the equation, but we believe that you shouldn't pay more than cost of a cup of coffee for it.
