While mammograms can help you to detect cancer before you can feel a lump, breast self-exams help you to be familiar with how your breasts look and feel so you can alert your healthcare professional if there are any changes. "As a breast cancer survivor of 2002, I found my breast cancer lump in my right breast and it felt like a round HARD KNOT.  By doing a monthly self-exam it saved my life." Thus came to fruition KNOTTY GIRL!  With her rope and knot body, her mission is to educate on the importance of monthly breast self-exams with everyone.  She offers a VISUAL representation of what a breast cancer lump might feel like...round and hard like a KNOT! While attending a business meeting in Las Vegas in January 2002, an unusual formally known as "Beads for Life" carried by a business friend, Ace Hawkins caught Diana's eye.  This key chain was promoting breast cancer awareness and offered a visual using different size beads that were examples of stages and tumor sizes that could be found dep g on the choice of detection.  One bead was the size of a lump that could be found by doing a regular breast self-exams. Diana said it was a visual that saved her life!  Always giving back to others, she feels today stronger than ever that there's a great awareness of breast cancer, however we don't teach others what to look and feel for while doing a breast self-exams. Today she owns her own successful insurance business and organizes a women's networking club called With her rope and knot body, Knotty Girl offers a visual of what breast cancer can feel like...round and hard like a knot!  She is a reminder to all women and men to do their monthly self-breast exams.  Through her array of "Knotty Girl loves..." themes, Knotty Girl hopes to connect personally with all of her Warriors - survivors and supports everywhere. With her “Rope & Knot Body,” Knotty Girl is a visual representation of what breast cancer can feel like...round and hard like a KNOT!  Her mission is to educate on the importance of monthly breast self-exams!
