Having a desire to continue her work with Dogs and cats and to learn more, she started to work for The Animal Clinic for the next 6 years. Under the guidance of Dr. Burroughs DVM, she became a veterinarian assistant. Still dreaming of owning her own facility, Shelly approached the owners of The Doghouse Pet Motel in an effort to purchase the property where she had worked the past 9 years. The owners, having known Shelly for the past 9 years, agreed to finance the business and property. With help from Shelly’s husband, Jeff, the two took over the Doghouse Pet Motel on November 1st, 1994. With Jeff’s managing skills and Shelly’s knowledge of the pet industry Kellogg’s Kennel was born. Jeff and Shelly were married in 1991 and have 3 children that have grown up in the kennel environment. The children’s knowledge of the kennel has really helped in the day to day chores of the kennel. Although our guest come and go we have enjoyed all the shapes, sizes and personalities of the pets that come and see us.
