(KBB) and its network of volunteers strive to maintain and improve the environment of Brevard County, FL. Keep Brevard Beautiful, Inc. (KBB), officially certified in 1981, marks the dedication demonstrated by the volunteers of the Beautification Committee of the Melbourne-Palm Bay Chamber of Commerce, who formed a coalition of business representatives, government and civic organizations to create a charter to become an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, Inc. As our mission continued, support from Brevard County and many municipal governments and community partners, a board of directors, and local chapters invited further growth of our mission. Our staff, volunteer leaders, and the thousands of community volunteers have helped Keep Brevard Beautiful, Inc. to blossom into the largest Keep America Beautiful (KAB) affiliate in Florida and one of the most productive organizations in the entire KAB system. Keep Brevard Beautiful - Florida As the executive director of Keep Brevard Beautiful, I know people want to live and do business in a beautiful community. Our residents and businesses are interested in cultural offerings, schools, entertainment, sports, and the environment, not only the trees-and-plants part of the environment, but the living environment. When people consider relocating here or opening a business and recruiting employees, the living environment of the community is a crucial component of their decision. For the past 30 years, Keep Brevard Beautiful has worked tirelessly to keep our communities clean, with a focus on eradicating litter. KBB educates the citizens of our county about recycling and diminishing waste and strives to assist with attracting businesses and tourists to our lovely communities. Our goal is to cultivate an area our citizens are proud to call home and our visitors want to return to year after year. As an affiliate of our national organization, Keep America Beautiful, we all work together to keep our communities clean, safe and vital today and tomorrow. In the months and years to come we will seek to further involve our youth in our programs. After all, they will be the ones to carry KBB’s mission into the future. Currently there is a brown algae bloom in the northern Indian River Lagoon and Banana River. The Lagoon is experiencing the same conditions as the 2016 Fish Kill and another kill is possible in the near future. Keep Brevard Beautiful is working closely with local and state agencies and will respond should there be a need. We are asking all of our volunteers to be on “stand by” to help with the clean up efforts if there is another fish kill. If you are able and willing to assist either by boat or along the shorelines of the Indian River or Banana River, please register Keep Brevard Beautiful would like to introduce our new online store!
