Karma Yoga Outreach is pleased to be bringing Yoga to some very special groups of people in Sarasota County. Free yoga classes are available to Veterans, Military Service Members, and their immediate family members at four locations, Garden of the Heart Yoga Center at 2888 Ringling Blvd, the DAV97 at 7177 Bee Ridge Rd, North Port Yoga Center at 1001 Corporate Ave in North Port, and Feel Good Yoga, 6350 Gulf of Mexico Drive, Longboat Key. Enrollment is currently open for all classes. For more information or to register, please contact Karma Yoga Outreach also brings therapeutic yoga to children with Autism and other special needs, and to people with Parkinson’s Disease. It is also excited to bring the renowned Y12SR program to Garden of the Heart! This program, the Yoga of 12 Step Recovery, developed by Nikki Myers, is dedicated to helping people who are recovering from addiction. It helps reduce the stress associated with learning differences, PTSD, and addiction. It teaches people how to calm and relax themselves. Classes help people feel supported by their community. Yoga can help with physical and mental discomfort such as back pain, insomnia, anxiety, depression, and hypertension, in addition to being a great form of exercise for strength and flexibility. Our Karma Yoga classes for Veterans, Children, and Recovery are all free of charge. We are so grateful for the generosity of all our donors (as well as our highly trained teachers!) who help to make these classes possible. Garden of the Heart Yoga Center is sponsoring a fun event the day of the Giving Challenge! From 1-2 pm on Tuesday, May 1st, Cheryl Chaffee will be leading a free, all-levels yoga class for anyone who wishes to come and experience the powerful benefits of a mindful yoga practice. Before and after the event, Cheryl and others will be happy to help you with the online donation process. You can between noon on May 1 and noon on May 2, 2018. But, if you’d like to make a cash (or check) donation at any time, you can drop it off at Garden of the Heart Yoga Center in an envelope labelled Karma Yoga Outreach. If I make a donation on the Karma Yoga Outreach website, will it be matched? Yes, but they are minimal. Only 6% of your Giving Challenge donation goes toward fees for credit card processing and for the donation technology platform. You can help us even more by opting to pay the additional 6% or simply have it come out of your donation. The Community Foundation of Sarasota County does not receive any of your donation.
