Hockey is more than just a game for us. It’s a way of life. It’s a community and a family. Hockey is a lifestyle. We created Ice to give the female hockey world something it was sorely missing. It’s our hope that it will be a place for female hockey players of all ages to find and share inspiration. Our intention for Ice is not to separate the girls from the boys, but to help women’s hockey share the same spotlight that has illuminated men’s hockey for years. Just because hockey is not a delicate sport, doesn’t mean that little girls shouldn’t want to play. As females participating in this aggressive sport, we need cultural support, nutrition and health advice, fitness tips geared to women, and most important, access to strong, positive role-models. Ice is a place where girls can find all of this and more; even fashion. One of our missions at Ice is to encourage young girls to go after their goals and be successful at anything they choose. We want to give girls a place to feel empowered and confident to do what they love and to love who they are. That being said, we’d like to point out that we do not Photoshop any of the pictures that you will find on our website. (The only things we’ll fix are zits or pimples.) Other than that, the girls you see in our magazine are pictured exactly as they are. Whether you are new to the Ice community, or a long-time fan, we’d like to invite you to explore our new site! We have finally made the transition from a printed publication to an online publication and community. Although, it saddened us to put aside the printed part of Ice, we are incredibly excited about the new opportunities we will have with our online community. It will allow us to bring you the most up-to-date news, information, and events and will also give us the freedom to feature many more bloggers, writers, fitness and nutrition experts, players, coaches, and even just really good story tellers!
