I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I have been married to my husband for 45 years and together, in Boardman, Ohio, we raised 3 amazing children. All of our children are married and have children of their own. We are the proud grandparents of 3 girls and 3 boys all living in different part of the country with their parents. My husband and I moved to Bradenton, Florida in 2001. Prior to counseling, I was an elementary art teacher, a stay at home mom and then a state certified Drug and Alcohol Prevention Specialist. Working in the inner city of Youngstown, Ohio opened my eyes to many different populations of hurting people, crying for help. After getting my masters degree in counseling, I worked as a guidance counselor in a men’s close security state prison in Ohio. These hurting men convicted of rape, murder and other heinous crimes took me deeper into an understanding of man’s need for truth. When we moved to Florida, I was employed as an elementary counselor to a migrant population and finally for the last 13 years, a middle school counselor with a very diverse population. Island Christian Counseling The goal for my practice is to help you find the Peace that only God can give. Island Christian Counseling is distinctively Christian Counseling “A good counselor is like a seasoned guide who artfully and skillfully leads lost, wayward, confused, frightened, or disheartened travelers (counselees) on a transformational journey to the place they (counselees) want to go. They have a destination in mind, a challenge to master, a dream to fulfill, and it is calling them to take up their gear and get on the trail. Many are weary, if not broken, void of hope, lost in darkness and perplexity. Some are bewildered and disheartened, travailing the same worn paths that have led them only to destruction. Others are hungry physically, mentally, emotionally, and/ or spiritually; lost on a sea of relations with whom they are unable to connect. They have used up their reservoir of resources trying to cross a seemingly tumultuous and endlessly expansive terrain. They know that they need help, yet they are ambivalent about embarking, keenly aware that the expedition will be costly and that they will be like sojourners in unfamiliar lands. Some fear that it is a journey so threatening and arduous that stepping on the trail is like stepping into the abyss.”
