Commissions swiftly followed from the likes of the New York Times, the BBC, the Royal Mail and many other publishers. in the popular seaside town of Lahinch, followed by a second gallery in Doolin. His work celebrates the culture and landscape of Ireland and is often described as having a musicality to it. Strong colours and movement are key signatures to his unique style of painting, but the artist attempts to push his work in new directions through experimentation to help his art practise evolve. My work generally concentrates on streetscapes and surf scenes from the west of Ireland. Strong shapes and colour are key signatures of my work which help to create interesting compositions and a sense of movement. Another unique feature would be my treatment of the sky, often the sky in a painting has no physical relationship with the landscape below it. In my work I try to bridge this by forcing a relationship between the two by use of lines that interweave between them. I find that this gives a visual tempo to the piece. I enjoy the playfulness that occurs in my work, the actual process is as important as the finished piece. In every piece I do I always attempt to push the boundaries by experimenting and trying out new things that hopefully push me out of my comfort zone and help my work & practise evolve.
