InterNatural Marketing was formed in 1989 by Chris Bell and has witnessed the evolution of the organic industry. In the early days, no buyers in the U.S. really understood what organic meant. Originally from England, Chris started InterNatural in Florida selling organic produce internationally. In 1992, he was forced to rethink his business model after new EU laws went into effect in Europe, changing laws effecting imports from all but a few long-established certifications, grandfathered into the regulations. With his experience as a partner in a successful health food store in West Palm Beach Florida, and using his connections he persuaded his first major U.S. customer, Publix Supermarkets, to start carrying organics. Twenty-Eight years later, InterNatural Marketing represents an array of organic growers in the U.S. and around the world. With the intent of creating greater opportunities for organics within the mainstream marketplace, InterNatural Marketing helps farmers (from farmers with as little as 30 acres to farmers who have hundreds of acres) get their organic products to market. The company acts as a one-stop source and consultancy solution for farmers. As we look towards the future, we hope to stay ahead of the organic wave by sticking to our main goal: focus on the farmers’ needs and ways to help them get their product to the market. Another objective is to continue shortening the distance between the organic farmer and the end user. We work on logistics to get produce to the consumer quickly. For over twenty eight years we have been developing the sales and promotion of certified organic products into the mass market, both in the US and in Europe. To encourage organic education and development both in the country of production and with mainstream companies interested in developing organic products. We remain firmly committed to these three core principles, adapting over the years to the challenges set by continuous changes to the market environment. Services Offered by InterNatural Marketing Initially a partner and manager of one of the largest Health Food Stores in Florida, he went on to establish InterNatural in 1989. He possesses an extensive produce background from farm level, to in store merchandising. He works with growers to plan and maximize opportunities for their produce; helping buyers coordinate an all year availability and developing contracts for long term requirements. Chris developed markets abroad for US organic products as well as importing from Australasia and the Americas. At InterNatural Marketing, Dina has been instrumental in starting their Organic Certification Support System, to assist farmers with the requirements of the National Organic Program. Her daily responsibilities include research, development, social networking and package design for marketable produce. She has been proactive in the support of organic/sustainable agriculture; urban agriculture and plays an integral role in the statewide small farms conference additionally creating local foods venues in an effort to expand the growth of the local and regional foods distribution system. Dee Dee began her produce career as the first female broad line produce buyer on the Atlanta State Farmers Market, over 20 years ago. She is past president and founder of the first Certified Organic Distribution Company in the State of Georgia. Dee Dee has a keen understanding of the needs of supermarket retailers, distributors, foodservice companies and buying clubs. Dee Dee’s long term experience and customer relations skills enable her to help farmers expand and grow their operations.
