Who We Are Independence Analytics, LLC is an actuarial and analytical consulting firm founded by John Soutar. A P&C actuary for almost two decades, John brings a unique perspective to bear on the challenges facing your company. Trained as an aerospace engineer, he found himself in the P&C industry in the early 1990s and never looked back. Many MGAs serve as "back offices" for new companies or companies new to a state, and they are contracted to perform the work required to run the client's business. John has performed pro-forma financial modeling, rate surveys, rate and rule filings, reserve evaluations, and data analyses for many clients over the years. He also has experience on the technology side of the business. For over two years he led the team that oversaw the MGA's main policy administration system vendor, and so was intimately involved with quality assurance, business analysis, and data management issues.
