He has been consulting and reviewing work as an expert in the field of traffic engineering, he also prepared technical documents, coordinated with clients, assisted with business development/marketing activities, contributed to contract scope and fee estimates, and mentored/supervised junior staff.
Valerio provided logistics and project management support during Project’s inception by coordinating the team-building effort, and interfacing with Jeddah municipality personnel. He also provided traffic engineering expertise by reviewing Terms of Reference (TOR) documentation, and overseeing the site visits and data collection efforts.
Valerio performed deputy program manager duties and, as a member of the Project Controls Team, he was in charge of managing the Project’s SharePoint site, attending all progress and public meetings, participating in the QA/QC process and coordinating efforts between all disciplines leaders, project managers and FDOT personnel. As the lead modeling engineer he managed the rail system operations analysis, which included: tracks’ alignment optimization, train performance calculations, drafting timetables, and service alternatives analysis. He also provided public relations support, contractors work schedule supervision and contributed to the station development and traffic engineering analysis.
Performed traffic and queue analysis by means of Synchro in order to assess impacts of an intersection reconfiguration to vehicle operations from nearby business and a major highway interchange.
Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission (SCCRTC), Santa Cruz Highway 1 High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) Corridor Study, Santa Cruz, California (2009)
Mr. Oricchio managed and provided technical expertise on various aspects and elements of the Project, including: concrete ties, thermite welding, restraining rail, bumping posts, and rail tracks structural compliance and specifications; by means of the SimWalk software he evaluated passenger stations for their capacity to exit all patrons in an emergency situation. He also managed the dynamic simulation effort of the wheel-rail interaction analysis.
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) grants. Due to recent and potential future changes in rail traffic patterns along the corridor, an update to the previous operational study was commissioned. Valerio was in charge of performing such analysis with RTC.
Multimodal Transportation Hub Feasibility Study, Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC), University of Las Vegas, Nevada (UNLV) Las Vegas, Nevada (2009)
Responsible for modeling and analysis with Synchro. Valerio worked with the client to identify the preferred corridor for BRT service in both Monterey and Santa Cruz, and then evaluated different attributes of the system that were most appropriate for service within these corridors. The final product allowed these communities to apply for federal Very Small Starts funding for implementation of BRT.
