The student must respect the estate where they are assigned. Students must be prepared to listen to and respect those who are more knowledgeable about the horses. Students must care for the horses and the stables seven days a week. This is not only a humbling experience but definitely a learning experience. This experience does not guarantee students any luxuries of the city. Students must understand that this is true dedication and commitment. However, depending on the estate, there are opportunities for informal riding and other equestrian practices as well as opportunities to attend on-site equestrian competitions and activities. Students must also understand that riding lessons are optional when available and made available by Horses Give Hope Education Foundation. Whereas on some estates, students will have an opportunity to complete various levels of training and development of equestrian services and activities and receive certificates of completion from Horses Give Hope Education Foundation. All students will be expected to take an exam,
on Respect 101 and Caring 101 for leadership as set out in the core values manual of Horses Give Hope Education Foundation.

Horses Give Hope Education Foundation Scholarship Program offers Scholarship opportunities for every rider in equestrian sports. Riders include the recreational rider, the newcomer rider, the most committed amateur rider, and the aspiring professional rider. This scholarship program allows students opportunities not only to engage in equestrian sports, but also to support equine careers and student leadership. Horses Give Hope Education Foundation offers also offers scholarships to help students with boarding and academics. In addition, this program allows students to coordinate with respective equestrian programs in order to plan and organize horse shows and other equine events. Alternatively, students can coordinate with respective programs to become student leaders, whereby organizing a variety of activities including community service projects, orientation and open house events along with a variety of social and recreational events. Students are offered an opportunity to receive education and an opportunity to educate about the various equestrian sports, make trips to local competitions, make trips to equestrian museums and prepare horses for competitions and tournaments. These scholarships are available for all equestrian sports, at all levels.

Horsemanship 101 is the understanding the safety of horses and riding a horse safely. Horsemanship 101 provides the building blocks for a strong foundation. A foundation that youths use in order to build and achieve things that perhaps one thought only possible in dreams. Horsemanship 101 aims to ensure that the student is in equilibrium with the thoughts, emotions and abilities of the horse, while knowing how to respond to the horse’s state. This will result in a special partnership and understanding between the student and the horse. Students will learn to teach the horse what they expect. Horsemanship 101 allows one the opportunity to build a relationship based on mutual trust and respect with a horses while increasing self-esteem and confidence and overcoming fear. Whether you are new to horses or it’s been awhile, this course will give you the basics and allow you to understand the way a horse thinks and ultimately why they act the way they do.
