HONR Network was founded in 2014 by Lenny Pozner, the father of 6 year old Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victim Noah Pozner. Shortly after the death of his son Noah, Mr. Pozner began experiencing harassment and threats by conspiracy theorists who believed the shooting was a hoax. As time passed, the harassment escalated with the proliferation of defamatory content posted by “hoaxers” on the internet and social media. Through HONR Network and its volunteers, Mr. Pozner’s goal is to remove false and disrespectful content which degrades the memory and dignity of his son’s life, and the lives of other victims of violent mass casualty events. Existing laws make it very difficult and costly to prosecute hoaxers, which only emboldens them to spread defamation and disinformation, as well as employ intrusive and threatening behaviour with relative impunity. We are working toward affecting positive changes to existing laws as well as the creation of new legislation, so that society can hold these abusers personally accountable for their actions, providing much needed relief to the victims and their families.
