A passionate and relentless perfectionist, Jim has a proven track record in building and positioning a variety of hospitality brands at such companies as Regent Hotels (The Americas), The Valley River Inn (OR), The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company (Worldwide), Mandarin Oriental Hotels (North America), and The St Regis Monarch Beach Resort and Spa, The Elliott, (Seattle), as well as Windmill Inns of America. Jim is particularly adept at creating marketing messages across all media platforms, including broadcast, internet, global positioning systems, print journals and collateral as well as developing feature story pitches and enthusiastically embracing public and community relations.
Before forming HK Hospitality Management, LLC Jim was President of Partnerships & Acquisitions at The Bankhurst Group and still serves as an Advisor, prior he served as Corporate Director of Marketing and Promotions at Regent Hotels, Resorts & Cruises – for the Americas. During his tenure, Jim was responsible for the successful rebirth of the Regent brand by creating an integrated campaign combining public relations, promotions, brand marketing, e-marketing, and advertising, and sales collateral and sales management programs.
Jim started his illustrious marketing and sales career at Hospitality Inns (later Harley Hotels) in Cleveland, as the Northern Division Sales Director supervising 14 properties in various states. It was during this period he honed his skills and reputation as a “hands on” leader and communicator, guiding his team to consistently deliver the group’s top occupancy, average rate, and profit return. Following this success and a stint at Americana Hotels in Chicago,Jim joined Harsch Investment, where he was promoted to Corporate Director of Marketing / Director of Sales and Marketing. His achievements in turning the Hotel Division around through intensified sales, marketing and promotions included doubling the average rate at The Claremont Resort & Spa, raising occupancy from 65% to 83% annually.Having by now gained an in-depth knowledge and individual approach to sales, marketing and public relations and driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, Jim opened the doors of Kelley Marketing. KM provided exceptional service, innovative strategic planning and delivered higher dollar volumes for its clients.

Jim is the co-founder and Managing Director of WhiteStar Advisors. Prior to the founding of WhiteStar, Jim served as a senior officer and investment banker at E.F. Hutton & Company, Inc., where he was instrumental in the financing and development of real estate, energy and infrastructure projects. Later, he was a founder and CEO of Oxbridge Partners, a New York based merchant banking firm that specialized in complex cross-border transactions involving real estate, energy, transportation, and infrastructure. Following the sale of Oxbridge Partners, Jim served as President of Janus Industries (the ocean shipping company formerly known as United States Lines), which he transitioned into a hotel and real estate development company, and as President of a California based company providing a wide variety of technical services for oil and gas well drillers and producers in the United States, Canada, South America and Southern Africa, as well as a member of the board of directors of Gunther International, Ltd., Capital City Energy Group, Janus Industries, Inc., Caribbean Clubs International, Inc., and as a member of the advisory board of Paradise Bank.
