Hitching Post of Ocala started in 1970 as Dick's Welding. In those days, most vehicle hitches were custom made by a welder who would fabricate the hitch for each vehicle. Bill and Lillian Chalker purchased Dick's Welding and eventually changed the name to Hitching Post of Ocala. In 1994, the company moved a quarter of a block to its present location. Bill and Lil sold the business to one of their employees, Jay Skone, in late 2006. In early 2007, Hitching post added a facility to provide TurboLiner spray-in-bedliners, the premier bedliner in the industry. Hitching Post today is one of the largest installers of hitches, base plates for tow vehicles, truck accessories and trailer repairs in Florida. Hitching post features products by Draw-Tite, Reese, B&W, Blue OX, Roadmaster, Remco, and Demco.
