Heritage Golf Group acquires Meadowbrook Farms Golf Club in Katy, Texas in partnership with Hillwood Development Company. Heritage Golf Group acquires three separate world-class resort golf clubs – Port Royal Golf & Racquet Club, Shipyard Golf Club, and Oyster Reef Golf Club – with 99 holes of exceptional golf on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Heritage Golf Group acquires TPC Prestancia from the PGA TOUR. Heritage Golf Group acquires TPC Tampa Bay from the PGA TOUR. Heritage Golf Group and the PGA TOUR form a Strategic Alliance, intended to provide expanded experiences for Members and Guests throughout the TOUR’s TPC Network of premier clubs and Heritage Golf Group’s portfolio of distinguished private and resort courses. In addition to their current membership benefits, Members of the TPC Network of Clubs and The Heritage Golf Collection enjoy additional access privileges through the TPC Passport Program, a program that adds value to Members by allowing them to “Join Locally, Play Nationally.” TPC Passport is a premium concierge program designed to deliver an exclusive golf experience for private club Members within the TPC Network of Clubs and The Heritage Collection. Under the leadership of John Hungerford (President), Heritage Golf Group is evolving the private country club experience to the highest level—on the cutting edge of tradition—by honoring the current traditions while enhancing and elevating the member and guest experience. Please review our Executive Team profiles below. John Hungerford relies on his thirty years of golf industry experience to oversee the daily operations of the Heritage Golf Group portfolio of clubs. Working directly with the General Managers of each golf club, John focuses on all areas of club operations, including, but not limited to, strategic planning, marketing, and capital improvement projects. Prior to Heritage Golf Group, John was the Senior Operations Director for the Cobblestone Golf Group portfolio of properties located in Texas. In 1998, he assumed the role of Vice President, Operations, where he oversaw the growth of the company’s portfolio from 27 to 45 clubs. While at Cobblestone, John received the company’s coveted “President’s Cup” award and was a member of the company’s team that received the 1998 “Entrepreneur of the Year” award presented by Ernst & Young. John began his career as a golf course superintendent, where his business acumen quickly propelled him into the role of General Manager of a variety of different clubs. His education further supports his industry experience, with degrees in Ornamental Horticulture and Business Management, accompanied by post-graduate work in Environmental Landscaping. John is a member of the Club Managers Association of America. Shad Butte, Chief Financial Officer, oversees all aspects of business planning and strategy for Heritage Golf Group, including operation strategies from short- and long-term views, specific & measurable goals with realistic time lines. His expertise is built on a foundation of years of experience in hospitality industry, risk management and corporate planning. Prior to his association with Heritage Golf Group, Shad worked as a Golf Operations Manager for JC resorts. Butte was Operations Analyst at Cobblestone Golf Group. Prior to his work with Cobblestone, Butte was VP of Operations at Asset Risk Management. Butte earned a degree in Business Administration from California State University – Long Beach. Gary Lorfano comes to Heritage with over 23 years of expertise in the golf industry with a professional track record in sales, marketing, customer relations and business development for organizations ranging from entrepreneurial start-up ventures to Fortune 500 companies in the technology, sports entertainment and golf industries. Prior to joining Heritage Golf Group, Lorfano served as President of Entertainment Solutions Group. He has held the positions of Director of Sales & Client Services for Nicklaus/Flick Golf Schools, Executive Director & National Director of Sales & Marketing for the Arnold Palmer Golf Academy, Vice President of Sales for Swing Solutions.
