Our humble beginnings make us who we are today. The 47-year history of Henderson is one of smart, thoughtful, and tenacious people working alongside our clients and the people they serve and represent. Company unifies brand, aligning Impact Illumination (architectural lighting), Collective Tech (technology), and Fire Dynamics (fire and life safety) specialty services under the Henderson Engineers family name. Outcome Construction Services, a wholly-owned subsidiary first introduced in 2013, also makes a change to better align with Henderson Engineers, becoming Henderson Building Solutions. Henderson introduces Outcome Construction Services, an engineer-led design build team also providing commissioning services. Henderson provides mechanical, electrical, plumbing, lighting, tech, fire, and security design services for the Matthew Knight Arena at the University of Oregon, which becomes LEED certified gold. Henderson announces new specialty division logos and the addition of a commissioning team, Outcome Cx. Henderson sends team to New Orleans to provide building damage assessment reports in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Henderson was also responsible for the redesign of the Superdome’s data network to support communications. In 1994, Henderson lands our first major healthcare project, Menorah Medical Center. That same year, current President & CEO, Rich Smith, and Henderson’s Director of Engineering for 22 years, Tony Pianalto are hired, and the 1st Annual Henderson Engineers Invitational — our storied annual client golf tournament — takes place. In 1995, Fran Henderson retires, 25 years after starting Henderson Engineers. Duane Henderson joins Henderson Engineers in 1988 and assumes the role of President and CEO – positions he will hold until 2013. Fran Henderson opens Fran Henderson Engineers in 1970 with two other employees and begins to pursue work in a variety of sectors including grocery, retail, education, church, and office buildings. We're more than just an engineering firm. Empow(HER), the Henderson women's network, was created to help propel women through connections, collaboration, and development. Made for women, by women, Empow(HER) offers educational sessions, networking, and programs that encourage young women to pursue careers in STEM. The Henderson Foundation is dedicated to impacting the community by empowering individuals, and funding efforts that complement and support the interests, values and vision of Henderson Engineers, Inc. The motto at Henderson Engineers is Work Hard, Play Hard, Give Back, and we take each aspect to heart. Because our community is greatly important to us, we organize community service for hands-on volunteering year-round, encouraging all employees to take advantage of their paid Give Back time. Additionally, the Henderson Foundation supports numerous groups through financial contributions and in-kind donation drives. During a pre-professional technical internship, a student in this district near our headquarters spends 20 days at Henderson Engineers exploring the field of engineering through hands-on learning and observation. We believe in investing in the future. Every year, Henderson provides scholarships to assist Architectural Engineering students. As a supporter of the Arts Council of Kansas City, Henderson helps support local arts organizations, programs, and artists throughout the area. Henderson encourages employees to participate in “Art@Work,” a city-wide arts challenge, and “Now Showing,” a program that provides opportunities for area artists to display their work at local companies.
