Hay Day Farm
Our Soil is tested not only for nitrogen, lime and potash, but also for the most important essential minerals such as iron, magnesium, manganese, boron and zinc. Therefore, the hay grown on our soil helps develop healthy, sturdy animals.
Hay Day Farm started with a Midwestern Bermuda hard grass with ideal sized stem of 1/16 to 1/8, loaded with leaves, high protein of 21%, and high digestibility. Due to Floridas high humidity and extreme rainfall at times, this grass could not adapt to our climate and died off except for a few clumps here and there in the field. According to an U of F ag agent, the surviving grass apparently had adapted to our climate thru mutation. What we thought was a tremendous disappointment at the time, turned out to be our miracle grass.
We at HDF took those few clumps, propagated it and continued to develop it learning the best way to grow it thru much research, trial and error, but with Gods help came up with our own HDF grass which we call Florage. Part of the miracle is that its 21% protein, high in sugar and digestibility according to our testing lab, Dairy One of New York State, who does our yearly analysis.
