As a matter of fact, Bob’s interest in food retail dates back to 1978 while working a popular grocery in his home state of New Jersey. Looking to move to a warmer climate, Bob relocated to Central Florida in 1986, met Louise and married in 2001. The newly married couple launched a Deli business, but Bob was lured away to once again pursue his food retail passion where he landed a role as a produce manager at Gooding’s Supermarkets – a well-known and well-respected, top-quality grocer in the Southeast U.S. located in one of the country’s busiest tourist corridors near Walt Disney World. With a 20 year successful management run with Gooding’s, Bob recognized a consistent pattern with tourists purchasing behavior… they all loved and demanded fresh fruits and produce – even while on vacation! Bob began to explore other options beyond the traditional grocery to meet this demand. In 2005, Bob launched Harvest Express Orlando as a premier distributor of high quality fruits and vegetables to other venues for Central Florida guests. Bob literally approached one of the busiest Walgreens in the country and sold the management team on the concept of distributing fresh produce. That was over 10 years ago and today, Harvest Express Orlando distributes fruit in dozens of pharmaceutical convenience stores, resort properties and vacation homes for guests looking for the convenience, quality and quick delivery of fresh produce while on their Central Florida vacation.
