Natural areas are disappearing at unprecedented rates all over the world. At Harimau Conservation we refuse to accept the indiscriminate destruction of these areas and refuse to lose their vast richness. Tropical forests of the world belong to all of us. The benefits they provide us are essential to the health of our planet -our only home- and ultimately, essential for our own survival and that of our children. We want to connect you with conservation movements led by the principal stakeholders: empowered local community members themselves. Through ranger training, children's schooling and wildlife monitoring programs we provide community members with alternatives, incentives and tools to engage in sustainable practices. We engage local institutions and form strong alliances with leaders where the potential and the need exist for conservation projects. Community involvement is crucial for the effectiveness and success of most conservation programs. It also shows local communities that their efforts are appreciated by the global community and provides them with a sense of ownership and pride.
