The care provided by Gulfcoast Direct Family Care typically does not include; Admission to the hospital, permanent casting for fracture care, cosmetic surgery, some ENT procedures and surgery, some urological procedures or surgery, management of acute chest pain, care of patients with multiple comorbidities (DDM, auto-immune disease, coagulopathy) that require an intensivist. Patients with Fibromyalgia, RSD or who are medically disabled or are perusing disability and patients who require chronic/continuous opiate use. Pregnant patients can be seen for most health care concerns but we do not manage pregnancy or related care. We currently have some immunizations routinely available and will evaluate this based on our client’s needs. Certain conditions and diagnoses may require a referral out for specialized care yet Gulf Coast Direct Family Care services will continue to care for you in conjunction with that specialized care. For example, if you require a heart catheterization, a service we do not provide, you will be referred out for that procedure at the patient’s expense or through a wraparound policy. Gulf Coast Direct Family Care Most people do not suffer medical catastrophes and can be “self-insured” through a Direct Primary Care model. Direct Primary Care (DPC) is not a new model in which patients pay their primary care provider directly, rather than through their insurance company. This type of care has been in place as long as healers, medicine-men or physicians have been around. Health insurance is a relatively new concept. Between 1940 and 1960, the total number of people enrolled in health insurance plans grew seven-fold. Many DPC practices offer broad services from pediatrics to dermatology; you can get most of your care in one place and from one provider group. For more complex procedures, a DPC provider will still refer patients out to specialists and that’s why a wraparound plan is so important. For anything else, the DPC clinic can take care of you.
