Hi! Welcome to our world! We are Scott and Tonya Whitlock. We have been interested in alternative medicines and achieving health through a natural, active lifestyle for the past 20 years. We’re not interested in a “magic pill, or oil” to obtain these goals, but we believe in a complete wellness lifestyle, consisting of a healthy diet, regular physical activity, decreased stress and adequate sleep, and mental and emotional healing to achieve overall peace and harmony in body, mind and spirit. We live in sunny Fort Myers, FL and spend our days loving the life we’ve created, and sharing what we’ve learned with those who also seek to add healing tools and modalities to their quest for health and Wholeness. We are all about community and connection and invite you to share and exchange with us here at Grass Roots Essentials. There are many people who drink a lot, and do not harm, or impede others on their personal life journey. On the other hand, drinking alcohol has been the cause of great suffering, both to individuals and those connected directly or indirectly to them. To these latter friends I write, and that from experience, but not with judgement. Neither do I come in the name of any Diety with threats of some eternal punishment, as being addicted to alcohol is hell enough. My purpose is, and trust will always be, for the betterment, healing, and vibrancy of life in my neighbors, thereby making for a more peaceful existence as a whole. Now, though I do not buy Fundamentel Religions in any way, shape or form, I do believe we are spiritual, physical, and mental beings. So, please know my thoughts anchor from this system of belief. If you do not believe in the spiritual part, it is not an issue because we certainly can meet on the grounds of Cause and Effect. So where do we go now? Shall I write about the effects of alcohol on the physical body? Ok, real fast. It is expensive, time consuming and in excess, killer on the body. The pain of hangovers become normal existence, dehydration and mineral depletion mimics a hot desert within a short period of time. The atmosphere created in the gut is a paradise for parasites, candida, fat stores and a myriad of other debilitating sicknesses. Did that help? Probably not, because you already know those are just some of effects of this lifestyle choice. The key is this. Just as you declare freedom to drink, so can you use your own declaration, and independence, to NOT drink! Right? Will it hurt? Most likely, but in actuality, Pain of withdrawal IS living, being drunk is numbing, and will most likely lead to early death. Will you be embarrassed, at first, to disclose the reality you live in? Maybe, but I figure you just turn that emotion around to victory, once you leave the house, and tell others how you survived. Has much damage been caused by continuous use of Alcohol? Well, repair can only start when your choice to stop is put into action. My help is this: You can paint into your life freedom from the cost of alcohol. There are plenty of painting tools, to suit your need. Mine was spending a day or two watching videos of people explaining how bad it was for them in the height of alcohol use. Thankfully, bleeding from every orifice was not somewhere I had to go, but, evidently some did! Try this: Start saying the truth of what this lifestyle has cost you. Look in the mirror, and around your life, then say, whatever is your truth is. Even if it is, “I love you alcohol but you are just too damn costly for me now!” It doesn’t matter the words, but intent is everything. Be honest, be strong and be happy to know much can be done about these “Spirits.” Continue to paint truth. Tell someone, even a fellow drinker. Sometimes, their reactions will help you in ways that you can’t expect. Write it down in a private log. Say, “I am divorced because of alcohol” or, “I was a real jerk that day” or maybe, “I hate what I look like and want to be fit again, but damn I love you my sweet Vodka Tonic!” Don’t be afraid of your truth, for that is half the battle. Lastly, screw shame! Shame is horrible, and might be worse than drinking! Just say, “It is what it is and I can change my life!” I hope this helps you some. The actions you can take to get free are many, the key is acknowledging that “This Bud is for you” is no longer producing laughter, smiles, and general well-being as commercials tell you they do! If you have issues in life to take care of, then maybe you will see that doing that is easier than the cost of hiding from them. Hey, friend, I personally believe all the power for a life change is in you. Maybe you don’t buy that, but remember, I speak from a place that shows me I did something right. This is what I will leave with today. Please don’t coddle the lie you can’t stop, or can’t handle a clear-headed life. You can choose to be different if you get tired of what you are, no matter what subject we are discussing. What’s the point of life if you don’t have power to change? Is it just to be a commercial consumer at the mercies of everything else? I think not! You got there by free choice, and you can leave by the same function! Welcome to Grass Roots Essentials!
