Gordon Martial Arts, Inc. (GMA) was founded in 2003 by Thomas Gordon and Gregory Bledsoe, both of whom are master level instructors. Previously operating a school for five years in another community due to local politics, they relocated and established GMA back in their hometown of Crestview, Florida. The school is situated in the historic district at 3182 E James Lee Blvd., Crestview. Gordon Martial Arts operates six days a week and boasts over 30 classes weekly, thanks to its extensive roster of instructors. After a significant remodel in 2011, GMA expanded its facilities to better accommodate students. Notably, aside from two instructors currently furthering their education, most of the teaching staff are mature professionals in their 40s or 50s, offering invaluable life and maturity experience that distinguishes the school. Thomas Gordon serves as both the owner and chief instructor at GMA. Besides his martial arts endeavors, he is host to renowned events including the Korean Martial Art Festival and Gulf Coast Martial Arts Championships held in Crestview. Thomas' martial arts journey began during elementary school, eventually shaping a career in competitive martial arts across the U.S., Canada, Korea, Australia, Scotland, England, Netherlands, Mexico, and France. Gregory Bledsoe, another key figure at GMA, transitioned from music teaching to full-time instruction after joining forces with Thomas Gordon. His martial arts education under Soke Harris Warren in traditional Ju-jutsu evolved through the practice of Hapkido and eventually the ITF system guided by Grandmaster K.S. Hwang. Alberto Barbon joined GMA's ranks in 2006, bringing with him over two decades of medical expertise alongside a lifelong passion for martial arts initiated during his youth in Miami. In practice at Gordon Martial Arts, Dr. Barbon credits the school and Taekwon-do for substantial personal growth amid life challenges. GMA operates under its status as a Florida nonprofit (DOMP), filed on September 12, 2003 with filing number P03000100459. The company has consistently met annual reporting requirements up to March 25, 2024, and maintains active corporate compliance including reinstatement procedures completed most recently on September 28, 2011.
