A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Doug received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tennessee and his Master of Combined Sciences from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. After a successful entrepreneurial career in real estate and business development, Doug moved to the Florida panhandle and established GSI (2002). Doug is a member of the
Jay is the son of the Program Director, Doug Liles. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Millsaps College in 2005 and attended Law School at Mississippi College. He currently runs a web technology business, Web Grouper, and has a successful career in music. Jay is a licensed Florida attorney.
Nikki is originally from Elizabethton, Tennessee. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in History, as well as a Master of Arts in European History from East Tennessee State University. In addition to her work at the Good Samaritan Institute, she is currently working on her dissertation to complete her PhD in Modern European history from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. One of her primary scholarly interests is the history of science and medicine, particularly the Scientific Revolution. She appeared on the game show Jeopardy! in 2003. She enjoys reading, traveling, hiking, playing volleyball, kayaking, and gardening in her spare time. She currently lives in Panama City Beach, Florida with her husband, James, and daughter, Noelle.

Liles is originally fromMemphis, Tennessee. In addition to being a successful builder, he has a master’s degree in microbiology, and always wanted to get back to science. He started Good Samaritan Institute to facilitate science education and share information. “I saw a real, unmet need where scientists and engineers weren’t really sharing their best practices,” said Liles.
Good Samaritan Institute started the “Santa Rosa Project” where they conduct workshops with scientists from all over, who work in the fields of biology, microbiology, cancer, chemistry, computer science, engineering, imaging, mathematics and nanotechnology, who visit Santa Rosa Beach, and take part in conferences held at GSI where they can put forth their research and information, and determine “best practices”. These practices are then published on the Web at
