Gainesville Girls Rock Camp, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering girls and gender non-conforming youth through music and self-expression. The camp operates as an annual week-long summer day camp for regional participants aged 9-17, focusing on building self-esteem, community engagement, and creative skills. Through the guidance of women-identified and non-binary volunteers, including local musicians, campers learn to play instruments and form bands. During camp, attendees create an original song performed at a public showcase in downtown Gainesville. Supplementary workshops offered include lessons in self-defense, lyric writing, dance, art therapy, women's history, and discussions on boundaries & consent. The organization strives for inclusivity by maintaining affordable fees through scholarships and offering complimentary meals, supported by community fundraising events such as musical benefits and film screenings. Founded in 2015 and managed from its base at 538 NW 3rd Street, Gainesville, FL, the camp emphasizes a respectful and supportive environment encouraged by volunteers. Current leadership comprises Coral Smith (President), Jennifer Vito (Secretary), and Jordan Brown (Treasurer). The organization's efforts are bolstered by community support to sustain diversity and provide enriching experiences for all attendees.
