FRSecure FRSecure CEO, Evan Francen, has been in information security for more than 20 years and witnessed first-hand this broken industry where security is viewed and treated as an IT issue that is fixed by simply purchasing new hardware or software. Francen envisioned an expert team of security analysts and operations talent that would partner with organizations to stop the unauthorized access and theft of data and information. In 2008, he started FRSecure to do just that. Today, the team at FRSecure works with customers globally to understand, design, implement, and manage best-in-class information security solutions. Evan Francen is a passionate information security expert who serves businesses of all sizes, in all industries by cooperatively solving the complex issues surrounding information security. He is considered to be an “information security evangelist”. Prior to establishing FRSecure, Evan spent more than 15 years as a leading information security professional and corporate leader in both private and public companies. He is well-versed in governmental and industry-specific regulations, standards and guidelines including ISO/IEC 27002 (17799:2005), HIPAA, GLBA, PCI-DSS, FDA CFR Part 11, SOX and COBIT, but also understands the intricacies in aligning compliance with business objectives. Most recently, and prior to establishing FRSecure LLC, Evan established the formal information security programs for four publicly-traded companies; Corel Corporation (CREL), Mattersight Corporation (MATR), MGI Pharma(MOGN) and Eisai Ltd (TSE). Kevin Orth holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from North Dakota State University and a Master’s degree in Business Administration. Earning his MBA was a personal goal, but much of the core business knowledge he gained helps him manage operations on a daily basis for FRSecure. Kevin’s dual backgrounds in technology and business give him a rare ability to not only understand technical details, but also to communicate them to business people who may have little to no technical background. His strengths include understanding complex situations and possessing the ability to get through the complexity to the heart of the issue quickly. John Harmon is an alum of Concordia College in Moorhead, MN and has 10+ years of business leadership and IT industry experience. Since joining FRSecure in 2012, John has worked with FRSecure clients and partners to further FRSecure’s world-class mission of building better security programs. As COO, John has developed an affinity for information security regulation. His primary focus is helping our clients clarify security requirements and start working toward an effective information security strategy. His ability to effectively communicate to individuals and groups is derivative of his business leadership experience and 15+ years as a classically trained singer, a passion he still pursues today. Internal process improvement is also a focus for John. As FRSecure continues to enjoy positive growth and reach, he is working behind the scenes to refine procedures and leverage our customer feedback to keep FRSecure providing ever-improving value. James is a driven, results-oriented leader with multiple business development growth achievements. He has enjoyed serving several MN Fast 50 Cos. such as Ergotron, Hunt Technologies, Convey and MentorMate (all eventually acquired), and now as President of 2017 MN Fast 50 FRSecure at #31. A proven turnaround expert and business accelerator, James fosters a servant leadership culture with high-integrity, openness, accountability and a focus on execution and exceeding results. His executive leadership, management, marketing, business development, sales, operations and financial analysis expertise and experience are battle-tested as a business leader and consultant. In addition to serving as President at FRSecure, James is a passionate speaker on the topic of The Importance and Benefits of Forming a Personal Board of Directors and Masterminds and Guides (MAG). James and three colleagues formed a MAG in 1990 and are often invited to enthusiastically speak about their 28 year journey.
