Friends of Lovers Key, Inc., also known as Friends Of Lovers Keys State Park (FOLKS), is a non-profit organization established in 1997. Following the merger of Lovers Key State Recreation Area with Carl E. Johnson County Park to form Lovers Key State Park, FOLKS became a state-sanctioned Citizen Support Organization dedicated to aiding the park. As per the Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3), it operates as a tax-exempt entity, and contributions are tax-deductible. FOLKS plays an essential role in enhancing park facilities and services through volunteer recruitment, fundraising efforts, and participation in specialized projects aligned with the park's management plans.
