FORREY GRILL INC. is a family-oriented business deeply rooted in the history of LaBelle, Florida. Founded initially as Forrey's General Trading Store by Captain Melville Forrey around 1914 on what is now known as Forrey Building property, it served not only as a grocery and meat market but also as a crucial community gathering point for locals and cowboys alike. After the store was destroyed in 1928 alongside its family residence due to fire from an adjacent hotel, Corine Forrey commissioned her son-in-law George Burchard to reconstruct the building, integrating residential space to accommodate her family. The business evolved significantly with the addition of an Annex in 1930, housing more retail spaces, a post office until 1964 which served as another significant town hub, among other businesses such as drug and jewelry shops. The property later hosted Flora and Ella Burchard's renowned restaurant in the 1940s, recognized for its hospitality attracting notable personalities over the decades. Today, under the name FORREY GRILL INC., founded on June 28, 2005, the entity is led by Stephen A Johnson as President and Amanda M. Johnson as Vice President. The company has maintained its legacy of serving quality food in LaBelle.
