The Company provides a complete consultation service. We are able to replicate architectural elements based on existing details, for new construction, or when necessary, replacement. We are also able to recommend a complete package of Victorian millwork for projects where there are no existing references. Forbes Restoration offers millwork from an extensive collection of brackets, corbels, porch brackets and spandrels, patterned shingles, railings, spindles and other restoration treatments. This inventory of Victorian design details and templates is based on copies of artifacts originally produced throughout the Maritimes and New England in the late 19th century and archived by Forbes over many years. For those in the Halifax region requiring assistance installing their new millwork, our restoration team offers a full construction service that will see you through all aspects of the build period. We are able to source and install period wooden windows, reproduction doors, copper detailing, period lighting, and any other aspect of your restoration. Forbes Restoration Design & Services Ltd. was established in 1994, by company principal Hal Forbes, and builds on Hal’s earlier design and production work in theatre and television. Hal’s work has been recognized with several ‘Design Awards of Excellence’ from the Province of Nova Scotia, and with an ‘Urban Design Award” from the Halifax Regional Municipality. Hal was a contributing author of the book Forbes Restoration has been involved in restoration and rehabilitation projects throughout the Halifax region, and has contributed design and fabrication services to projects throughout Eastern Canada.
