In 2006, a University of Florida college student saw a need for schools to more efficiently track student data. What started as a hobby in a UF dorm room has evolved into a comprehensive suite of products that now serves over one million students across the globe. In just four short years, Focus School Software was implementing our Student Information System in Pinellas County Florida, our first 100,000(+) student school district. When Pinellas County purchased Focus SIS, they decided to purchase a third party scheduling module. Focus took this as a challenge. We met with their scheduling committee and made many improvements to our scheduling system. After Pinellas’ scheduling committee evaluated all the available options on the market, they unanimously decided Focus’ scheduling system was the best. capabilities by meeting the stringent demands and requirements of states like Florida and Texas. In addition to providing all the required extracts for state required reports, Focus provides verification reports, which help to ensure successful submissions for all data collections. Our momentum has not slowed, nor has our product development, and the only portion of our company growing faster than our customer base and product features is . We currently employee over 90 dedicated and talented individuals, many of whom worked in school districts that use Focus products. That college student, Andrew Schmadeke, is now CEO of Focus School Software and System Architect for our Focus School Software licenses systems to provide school districts with a scalable and flexible solution that meets not only the information demands of today, but also the future. Our clients range in size from a few hundred students to over one hundred thousand (100,000) students all running on an enterprise strength relational database (PostgreSQL) on either customer owned servers or remote Focus servers. With an open architecture platform, Focus School Software provides our customers with a system that can meet the ever-changing demands of student information reporting and analysis. In addition, the district can share in the developments of other Focus users. The database stores the access permissions of each user.
