Florida National University, Inc. (FNU) is an educational institution committed to providing accessible and flexible learning opportunities through its online, blended, hybrid, and ground-based programs. Established on January 4, 1988, in Hialeah, Florida, it originally operated as the Florida International Institute under the leadership of Dr. José Regueiro, Mrs. María C. Regueiro, and Mr. Omar Sánchez. Over time, FNU evolved from a college offering diverse programs to an accredited university with multiple campuses in Miami-Dade County. FNU is recognized by the National Accreditation & Equivalency Council of the Bahamas Act and consistently strives for program accreditation; for example, its Associate of Science in Nursing (ADN) seeks recognition from ACEN, while its baccalaureate and master’s nursing programs pursue credentials from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. The university facilitates the education of a largely Hispanic student body with an emphasis on small class sizes for personalized instruction. FNU employs faculty skilled in modern teaching techniques and upholds a strong mission to integrate diverse cultures into its educational framework, fostering professional success and societal development. FNU maintains three primary campuses: the Hialeah Campus (56,000 sq ft), South Campus (24,900 sq ft), and Training Center (5,600 sq ft), each equipped with necessary resources for technological advancement and supporting students with accessibility needs. Recognizing student retention as a priority, FNU has implemented an Early Alert system to monitor at-risk individuals and ensure their academic support. With over 40 programs including three master's degrees, ten baccalaureate degree programs, twenty-five associate degree programs, nine diploma programs, and eight certificate programs, FNU continues to contribute substantially to the community it serves, adhering to its foundational educational philosophy.
