FLORIDA HOSPITAL DADE CITY, INC., ALTAMONTE SPRINGS

Florida Hospital is one of the country’s largest not-for-profit health care providers with 22 campuses serving communities throughout Florida. Being a not for profit hospital means we are here for something much more important: you. For more than 100 years, we have been profoundly committed to those who seek our care. We’ve become known the world over for the expert, compassionate, individualized attention given to the millions who have already passed through our doors, and the million plus patients who visit us each year. Since 1908, our commitment to providing unsurpassed health and wellness services has expanded to meet the increasing needs of our ever-growing population. As we’ve adapted with the changing times, our mission has remained a constant—to extend the healing ministry of Christ. Our heritage of whole person health—achieving wellness of the mind, body and spirit for our patients—is of paramount importance to each member of our exceptionally talented clinical staff. As we look to the future of health care, we continue to grow and evolve. We believe that a hospital should be as focused on treating injury and illness as it is to helping people avoid the need for treatment completely. With initiatives like CREATION Health, we are cultivating community-wide movements toward adopting healthier lifestyles for greater longevity. And development of Health Village, our 172-acre mixed use planned community, will provide an immersive environment rich in resources that encourage whole-person health. Florida Hospital, a 2,247-bed acute-care medical facility, is a member of Adventist Health System.  We serve as a community hospital for Greater Orlando and as a major tertiary referral hospital for Central Florida and much of the Southeast, the Caribbean and Latin America.  Adventist Health System operates 44 hospitals in ten states making it the largest not-for-profit protestant health care system in the United States. Our annual statistics include: Was this page helpful? Our Mission Our mission, extending the healing ministry of Christ, comes from the study of scripture. Jesus spent a great deal of his ministry on this Earth healing the sick, helping those in need, and offering them a new and better life. Our hope is that through our caregivers, His healing touch will be felt by all who come to us for care. Our mission strengthens our commitment to health care. Because of our faith as part of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, we focus on healing the whole person–mind, body and spirit. In fact, Seventh-day Adventists believe that spiritual and emotional health are vital elements to overall well being. It is this belief that guides us in all we do at Florida Hospital and it has helped us to create one of the finest health care facilities in the U.S., if not the world. In the decades that followed, we continually advanced the level of care available to our patients. We were one of the first hospitals in the US to install a CT scanner, the first in Central Florida to offer MRI, PET/CT and 4-D ultrasound technology and first in the state to provide life-saving digital mammography. As our technological accomplishments grew, so did our talent pool of clinical experts—many of whom are leaders in their field and lead training for the next generation of doctors. In fact, Florida Hospital’s Nicholson Center has trained tens of thousands of surgeons in the very techniques we practice within our own operating suites. Because of our high standards and clinical accolades, The Walt Disney Company chose Florida Hospital to create a one-of-a-kind, full-service health care facility in their planned community of Celebration. Disney also lent its expertise and Imagineers in helping us create one of the world’s most unique children’s hospitals. These campuses, along with 20 other distinct hospitals now form one of the largest health care networks in the US. As we look to the future of health care, we’ve begun to rethink and reshape our role as a hospital. And with the development of Health Village—our 172-acre mixed-use urban community— we will provide an immersive environment rich in resources that encourage whole-person health. Through various partnerships, this development will set a new standard in living; we can extend our healing mission beyond our hospital doors, and create a greater impact in the collective health of the community that surrounds us. Throughout our history, our pioneering spirit has never waned—nor has our mission of extending the healing ministry of Christ. What began as a journey toward spiritual and physical health for a grateful few, is today a promise of healing – mind, body and spirit – to millions of people here in Central Florida and worldwide. People, just like you. Maintaining open and ongoing communication with local, regional and national governmental agencies and officials is an important part of us meeting the current and emerging needs of our patients, employees and stakeholders. In addition to serving this important role, the Government Relations department acts as a communication bridge between hospital, business and community leaders. At Florida Hospital we care deeply about the wellbeing of our patients and their families. As such, we believe it is important to provide our patients with necessary resources to make informed decisions about their care based on the very latest information available. Below are resources that will be useful in helping you choose health care services and providers that are right for you and your family. The Joint Commission The Joint Commission is an independent organization that provides accreditation and certification to healthcare organizations through regular (approximately every 3 years) onsite validations.  This accreditation signifies our hospital’s commitment to meeting quality, safety, organizational and leadership standards. DNV Accreditation requires an annual survey and the organization’s continual compliance with the Det Norske Veritas Accreditation process. Focusing on aspects of quality, innovation and continual improvement, DNV accredits health care providers across the US, including multi-hospital systems, community hospitals, teaching institutions and regional medical centers.
