Florida Fishing Academy (FFA), Inc. is a nonprofit organization recognized under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, founded in 2006 with the mission to empower at-risk youth through engaging and educational programs focused on fishing and other water sports. Utilizing Florida's rich marine environment as an educational platform, FFA provides hands-on experiences in fishing, boating, and environmental stewardship. These activities are designed not only to develop positive life skills but also to foster a connection with nature among children, potentially guiding future anglers, marine biologists, and conservationists. Over the years, FFA has engaged more than 8,000 youths across Palm Beach County through diverse initiatives like summer camps and community boating programs. In recent history, substantial accomplishments include receiving grants from organizations like United Way of Palm Beach County, Prime Time Palm Beach County, and the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation to enhance their impact. The academy operates various impactful programs such as job training/apprenticeships, benefiting hundreds of high school students by securing employment for them. Moreover, with continued financial support, FFA has also launched inclusive services for disabled students and veterans. FFA was founded by Jeff Freeman, driven by a passion for fishing and teaching. Freeman's inspiration stemmed from personal experiences and the lack of structured fishing education programs when he inquired about such opportunities during his recovery from a back injury. This led to the creation of 'Angling for a Healthy Future,' an enhanced curriculum based on HOOKED ON FISHING-NOT ON DRUGS®. The organization maintains its headquarters at 10157 SW Cypress Wood Ct, Port Saint Lucie, FL, with its operational base in Riviera Beach. Led by President Jeff Freeman and CEO Officers including Stephanie Brown as Secretary and Matt Hedrick as Treasurer, the academy remains committed to expanding educational opportunities that connect youth to nature while promoting environmental conservation.
