About Flash Spectrum
Flash Spectrum is the gallery of Robert B Slobins, who has been photographing the skies and nature worldwide since 1970. He work has appeared in over 150 publications and is in several collections worldwide.
One of his interests has been total solar eclipses, having seen all thirteen to which he has traveled. One can, with a diffraction grating or prism, observe the spectrum of the inner solar atmosphere for about two or three seconds at the beginning or end of the total phase. Charles Augustus Young first observed the flash spectrum in 1870. Recording the flash spectrum has been his priority since he first saw it for himself in 1972.
