First Nation Group
First Nation Group, founded as First Nation Security LLC, was established when a small group of retired military officers joined with local business leaders in Detroit to connect business in the inner city at the Samaritan Center with US Government opportunities. Our goal is to build this business into a sustainable social enterprise in order to make a positive social impact in Detroit and the communities where we operate. The Samaritan Center is a multi-faceted community resource center providing job training and placement, educational programs, spiritual ministries, and health services for neighborhoods in Detroit's East Side (a Historically Underutilized Business Zone).
Cheryl Nilsson, the owner and Chief Executive Officer of First Nation, is a retired Air Force officer, lawyer, and CPA and has worked in the Federal Government and Defense Industry for over 45 years. Ms. Nilsson has managed large diverse Government and Industry staffs in the U.S. and Europe responsible for handling on the full range of complex contracting, environmental, international, labor and fiscal matters. Under Ms. Nilsson's management, First Nation has increased security services by 25% and has provided over a thousand veterans with badly needed medical supplies.
A SDVOSB, VOSB, WOSB and HubZone Company
First Nation Group is an approved HUBZone certified supplier by the Small Business Administration (SBA) and verification by the Veterans Administration as a Certified Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB). What does this means to our Customers? Each executive agency in the Federal Government has the goal of awarding 3% -5% of prime and subcontracts to HUBZone, SDVOSB, VOSB and WOSB concerns, and an order to First Nation dba Jordan Reses count toward goals in each category. Competitive Contracts may be set-aside in these socioeconomic categories if there is a reasonable expectation of receiving offers from two or more companies with these certifications, in full and open competitions. HUBZone companies get a 10% price preference. Contracting officers can award a sole source contract valued up to $6.5M for manufacturing and $4M for services and construction.
