Fireflies of Life is A rock center for burned and physically disabled children from birth to 21 years of age. With our bright tails of life we aim to restore hope and the quality of life to children one child at a time. Fireflies of life is a 501(c) 3 organization committed to helping burn and disabled children of Hillsborough County live happier and healthier lives.  It is our duty to be available when we are capable to provide Hillsborough We aim to restore the hope and quality of life to children whom have been the victims of fire, chemical burns, accidental injury or any degenerative disease where the quality of life for the child was lessened. As a not for profit organization we provide counseling and other services which include child care assistance, reconstructive surgery and durable medical equipment and prosthetic devices for burned and physically disabled victims. Sakeena’s Story…At the age of 8 months Sakeena Rock suffered 3rd degree burns over 80% of her body. The scars on her body cover most of her face, her right hand as well as her legs and feet. After receiving over 50 reconstructive surgeries over the course of the first 18 years of her life and several hours of psychological therapy, she was able to cope with the emotional and physical scars of a burn survivor. As a burn survivor herself, the founder of Fireflies of Life INC understands that being a burn survivor as a child can be a devastating experience to overcome. While meeting with several burn survivors throughout the course of her life, she has learned that they all suffer from the same mental and physical scars. As an adult, her goal is to help children that have suffered the same short-comings. Through hard work, dedication and commitment her goal is to improve not only the physical appearance but the self-esteem of burn and disabled children. That is why the organization offers a variety of services that will not only improve the physical well-being of the survivor but also the mental. Through her organization Fireflies of Life her goal is to help burned and disabled children from being burn victims to burn survivors.
