Thereafter, you are responsible for yourself and your choices. We are present everyday to model the healthy lifestyle practices and support you through the healing process. As your hosts, we have been where you are and are committed to helping you in every way we can. Some guests are interested in water fasting, coconut water fasting or juice feasting. We are open to this, but will not agree to it automatically. We prefer to first meet our guests and assess their goals, health status and toxicity. For water fasting, we require interviewing you before you complete your reservation to discuss it and to determine the length of your fast. We usually fast guests who visit for a month of longer. They start with 2 weeks on a clean raw food diet, week 3 is a fast and week 4 is a re-feed. We do not fast guests with bulimia, anorexia, obsessive compulsive disorders or who are severely underweight. We are not a fasting clinic and we do not monitor your vitals during the fast. Farm of Life is not a medical clinic, skilled nursing facility, psychotherapy ward, talk-therapy center, hospice or residential care unit. We do not have doctors, nurses, psychologists, medical equipment or medications to assist with convalescence or mental disabilities. We are not a treatment center for anorexia, bulimia or severe obsessive-compulsive disorders. The nearest medical clinics and pharmacies are a 1-hour drive, and the capital city – San Jose – is a 4-hour drive. We do not accept guests on dialysis, because treatment is 4-hours from us. We are a non-smoking campus, so quit smoking before you arrive. If you smoke on campus, you will be asked to leave with no refund. Since fruit trees are vitally important for our nutrition and livelihood, we wasted no time – we planted 100 trees within the first month of owning this farm and continued planting every rainy season thereafter. At last count (Sept 2016), there are 100 different types of fruit trees here and over 300 fruit trees in total volume…all growing and thriving. Plus, we have nearly a dozen different types of bananas and countless bananas trees in total. To date, we are harvesting from banana, starfruit, avocado, biriba, lemon, lime, orange, guava, rambutan, jackfruit, dragon fruit, jaboticaba, surinam cherry, noni, breadnut, cherry mangosteen, cashews, abiu, black sapote, cacao, ice cream bean, guanabana, mangosteen, mangoes, papaya and maprang trees. More fruit and nut trees will give us a harvest in the years ahead, including durian, mamey sapote, macademia, soncoya and others. May this food forest and the aromatic fragrances nourish, heal and bless all who partake in the experience of this farm. Despite her efforts to find the true healing source, she failed to recognize the one great truth— healing is a divine right and health is a divine presence within. All her seeking had been towards modalities outside herself. Through a newfound spiritual orientation, she began to recognize this greater truth for herself. She also began dating Brian, who taught her the raw food lifestyle and reaffirmed the belief that healing can be accomplished from the inside out. Jody’s transformation to health is a work in progress. She tiptoed her way into the raw food and natural hygiene lifestyles. She came to realize the extreme extent of her body’s toxemia and enervation and the need for rest and detoxification, as well as proper nourishment and re-mineralization. Eliminating stress from her life, getting to bed early, having appropriate exercise, connecting with the elements, practicing self-love and acceptance and doing short fasts are all practices that help restore her body to vitality.
