Family Homes by Design Erick Cortes and Laurie Emery-Cortes founded Family Homes by Design in 2017 after spending much of their lives building two very successful careers – Laurie with a 20-year background and doctorate in child psychology and behavioral management and Erick with 25 years in the home re-design business. Their lives converged in 2006 and five children later, they have never been more vested in helping their clients “live in possibility.” For the past 11 years, Erick and Laurie have utilized their combined talents to advance the lives of thousands of families locally here in South Florida throughout the country. Erick and Laurie have modeled their guiding principles with their own children: family values, organization, teamwork and loving and honest respect which are the same fundamentals that Family Homes by Design was built upon. Throughout her career as a family therapist, Laurie’s most cherished role was helping families organize the household so that everyone could be more connected. Laurie believes the most important aspect of a family home is functionality because when there is less clutter, there is more time to enjoy the important things in life. She brings her visionary abilities and clinical expertise to the team. I used all his suggestions along with my own ideas, which he was happy to implement!
