Edwina Freeman, CEO and founder of Eximius One, was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 1993 at the age of 25. Through this experience, she gained a personal understanding about the impact that illnesses characterized by symptoms such as chronic musculoskeletal pain, depression, cognitive dysfunction, and constant fatigue can have on one’s physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Through faith in God, continual prayer, and a holistic approach to wellness through emotional intelligence and dietary changes, she is winning against all odds and she wants you to win! Edwina Freeman is the founder and CEO of Eximius One, LLC. As a certified coach and educator specializing in Emotional Intelligence and fibromyalgia, she works with clients to help them achieve their desired level of physical, emotional, and spiritual wellness. Her educational achievements include 2013 Magna Cum Laude graduate of Grantham University, a 2005 and 2003 graduate of the Community College of the Air Force, and a 2004 graduate of Okaloosa-Walton Community College. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Associate of Applied Science degrees in Logistics, Information Systems Technology, and Industrial Management Technology. She is a 2015 graduate of the DRW Coaching School in Kissimmee, FL where she earned dual certification as a Holistic Emotional Intelligence Coach and a Fibromyalgia Coach. In April 2016, she completed her certification as a Fibromyalgia Educator through the Fibrofit Wellness Institute in Orlando, Florida. Healthy In Body, Strong in Spirit: The Story of Eximius One, LLC “When I was diagnosed, the only information about fibromyalgia that I had access to were the pamphlets that the doctor gave me. We didn’t have the Internet back then,” she said. “I felt as though I was in a bubble. I was overseas in Panama and the only people that I was in contact with who actually heard of it were doctors.” She often conceptualized symptoms of fibromyalgia with arthritis symptoms to help her family and friends understand the complex nature of fibromyalgia. “…I really wasn’t doing much justice in describing it that way because I was only referring to the physical symptoms,” she stated. “The mental and emotional aspects of fibromyalgia are quite overwhelming. The depression, mood swings, and the inability to concentrate are as gruesome as the pain.” Though she was prescribed medication to help alleviate the symptoms, she was unable to sustain her medication regimen for an extended period of time due to experiencing negative side effects, along with their impact on her ability to manage her personal life and perform her duties in the military. However, the words “no cure” did not stop Edwina from seeking healthier alternatives to help alleviate her fibromyalgia symptoms. She was determined to find her own. “This lets me know that God want us to be healthy—physically, emotionally, and spiritually, and He wants us to be balanced in these areas” she said, after reading the scripture. “I was making great efforts to be physically and spiritually well, but very little effort to being emotionally well. I had to become emotionally intelligent…I had to become more aware of my emotions and what triggered them, and find healthy and productive ways to keep them in check.” In 2015, Edwina decided it was time to take her message to a larger audience and that marked the birth of her new company, Eximius One, LLC. Eximius, a Latin word, means “extraordinary, excellent, fine, and superb.” Edwina is excited about the launch of Eximius One, LLC and has partnered with Tina Wheeler, CEO of The Accion Group, to develop and expand the company. She describes Tina as a phenomenal business coach who operates in excellence and integrity, with a proven track record of success. Edwina also credits Apostle Brenda Williams, her pastor, for motivating and inspiring her to go into business. “Apostle Williams is an Eximius woman of God; without question, I would not be where I am today had it not been for her,” she stated.
