Welcome to Wisconsin's Evergreen Funeral Home. I have been fortunate to work in a profession helping people since 1986, receiving my B.S. in Mortuary Science from the University of Minnesota. Throughout my career in funeral service I have gained valuable experience working for independent and corporate-owned funeral homes in the Twin Cities and Little Falls, Minnesota and Eau Claire. My wife and I were able to realize our dream of owning a funeral home in 1999 when Evergreen Funeral Home and Crematory was established. When deciding the type of service to have, you may be guided by your religious beliefs, family traditions, cost concerns, or personal preferences. You may choose to have a "traditional" funeral with a casket at our funeral home or your church. Perhaps you will decide to have a memorial gathering at your family's favorite place. With our years of experience, knowledge, and expertise you can count on us for honest, straight forward answers to your questions. We will help guide you through your options and find the service that is right for you. The cremation process itself is a method used to reduce the body to bone fragments through the application of intense heat. Over a period of three to four hours the body is altered to a state of small skeletal fragments, not fine ash as believed. These fragments are then processed to become small pea gravel sized remains which are placed into a cardboard container or in an urn provided or purchased by the family. Before cremation can take place, we are required by the State of Wisconsin to ensure the following: 48 hours lapses from time of death; the Coroner/M.E. from the county in which the death occurred view the body/issue a cremation permit; and a Cremation Authorization Form is signed from the next of kin or authorizing agent. If you wish to have cremated remains present for a service, please keep in mind that all these requirements must be met before cremation can take place. This could delay the cremation process beyond the 48 hours. With our own on-site crematory, we are able to perform the cremation as soon as all requirements are met. Ask us for help. Where do you want a service to be held? Do you want cremation or earth burial of a casket? Then, talk with your loved ones about your ideas. To help record your final wishes, we have a booklet "Information My Family Should Know - My Funeral Wishes." Inside this booklet you will find places to provide personal information, list family members and indicate the location of important documents, bank accounts, and property. But most important, there is a place for you to specify what type of service YOU want. It may be a service with a casket present and earth burial; a casket present with cremation following; or a memorial service. If you are an eligible veteran, you may choose to be buried in a State or National Veterans Cemetery. These are charges for services and/or merchandise provided by and/or purchased from the funeral home based on the type of service you select. Charges could include (but are not limited to): embalming, transportation, visitation, funeral service, casket, service merchandise, and basic professional services, etc. Each of these specific items are outlined in what is called our General Price List (GPL). The GPL is a required, regulated document which must be presented when discussing costs face to face. It helps both the consumer and the funeral home. It helps the consumer in knowing exactly why (or why not) certain items are charged, the cost associated with each decision/selection made, and opens up discussion to alternatives if costs become a concern. It helps the funeral home by ensuring we are honest and consistent in our pricing with every family we serve. These are expenses which may be paid on your behalf to other providers of services that are not funeral home related charges.
