I graduated from San Diego State University with a design position at Ocean Pacific Sunwear. Here I dreamed up accessories for the Sportswear Industry. What fun it is to play with the motifs of surfers, beach bums and bathing beauties! From Visors and Sunglasses to Beach Totes and Flip Flops, I really got sand in my eyes! Four years in Hawaii, earlier in life, really helped me identify with their image.
Marriage and moving brought me to the rural community of Port Angeles, Washington, where I searched to find a place to create. I ended up doing costuming for a local theater group. I worked with an amazing reclusive designer that dyed her own fabrics to properly age them for exact replicas of period costumes. The work was intensive and thankless, but the reward of seeing our pieces on stage was a joy. And living in this place was like being in heaven. The farmers markets were the best I’ve ever seen. I was surrounded with natural beauty in the mountains, waterfalls, lakes and sea, breathing in pure air.
And I did too. I went on to work for a family owned decorating business in Scottsdale, Arizona. Here we made beautiful window treatments and accessorized homes in the Southwest style. I fell in love with the desert and its sparse beauty. Where else can you hang your coat on a cow horn coat rack?
This thrilling ride pushed me once more to a higher level of design, fueling my passion for creating beauty. Now I have opened my own design firm where I honor all that nurtures the home of the human spirit. I study the art of placement, energy work and feng shui. I feel a new appreciation and love for helping people live in spaces that surround them with beauty. It’s the start of something new. It always gets better and I am having so much fun!
