European Street Cafe, known locally as 'E. Street,' is a distinguished family-owned restaurant celebrated for over three decades in Northeast Florida. Established by Mary and Lew, former high school teachers with no initial business experience, the restaurant originated from their dedication to learning all facets of restaurant operations through hands-on experiences at food shows. Initially part of Mr. Dunderbak’s franchise, it was rebranded as European Street Restaurant and Gourmet following a strategic realignment in the 1990s by current owners Antony I Zarka and Andrew J Zarka. Today, E. Street operates four successful locations throughout Jacksonville: Riverside (opened August 1992), San Marco (opened August 1996), Beach Blvd. near University (opened March 1999), with a fourth location established in Jacksonville Beach in 2005. The mall restaurant closed in March 1999.
