Helping you balance a healthy lifestyle!
About Eric Morgan PT
Speaking of UCF – I went there originally with the goal of becoming a doctor. In fact, I finished all of my pre-med requirements. I wanted to become a doctor because I’ve always had a passion to help people who most need it and to provide them the care that they need the most. But while I was at UCF I realized that while I understandably thought that being a doctor was the best way to accomplish my passion and goals (and is, of course, a noble career path) it wasn’t exactly what I wanted. I didn’t just want to see people at a seven-minute consult; I wanted to help coach people through life’s peaks and valleys, to help balance their ups and downs.
I realized that for me, personally, the best way to fulfill my passion was to help people in the fields of exercise and having a healthy lifestyle. I realized that people need preventative help – of course, some get to the point where they need a doctor, but I wanted to be involved in helping people’s lifestyle such that they don’t get to that point at all.
The best way to know how to help people improve their lifestyle and exercise plans is to get to know them – luckily, I’m also extremely passionate about relationships. I’m blessed to be able to train several of my lifelong friends. I think that personal trainers are better positioned to be successful when they develop the relationship sufficient to know in specific ways the trainee’s strengths and weaknesses. Connecting with people brings me joy, and I am so thankful to be able to work in an industry where I can wake up every day and think not that I have to go to work, but that I get to go to work.
The fact of the matter is that training isn’t really, or only, about lifting weights or losing weight. Training is about helping people enjoy the life that they want. It’s about being able to horseplay with the grandkids or win that high-school tennis tournament. It’s about not allowing chronic back pain to prevent you from partaking in a lunch-break racquetball game. It’s about eating right, enjoying emotional and mental health, and not allowing stress, fatigue or poor eating habits to control your day-to-day life.
